I’m a software engineer and University of Queensland graduate with honours in Software Engineering, and by day I build enterprise software for a living. Haven Designs is where I bring that same engineering care to small businesses.
What that means for you is simple: a real engineer builds your site properly. It loads fast, holds up over time, and is yours to own outright, with no lock-in and no plugin licence fees.
For me, a great website is equal parts craft and care: thoughtfully designed, solidly built underneath, and unmistakably yours. The kind of site that works as hard as you do.
Good to know
Pricing is fixed and agreed up front. A one-page site for a creative or a single-service sole trader starts at $1,250. A multi-page business site, with a page for each thing people search for so each one can be found on its own, local search setup, and an enquiry form that tells you what the job is before you reply, is $3,000. Larger builds that sell online, take payments or run bookable calendars are $5,000. You'll always get an exact quote before any work begins.
A few extras that don't fit on the pricing card. Standard includes your first year of hosting free. Business adds Google Analytics, so you can see what people came looking for, plus a photo gallery you can add to and reorder yourself. Business Premium adds a blog or news section you can publish to yourself, and help shaping your copy and images.
It comes down to one question: how many different things do people search for when they need you? A photographer or a musician is found by name, by referral or by their work, so one page does everything they need. But a single page can only rank for one thing on Google, because Google lists pages rather than sections. So if people search for several separate services you offer, each one needs its own page to be found at all. If you're not sure, tell me what you do and I'll tell you honestly which one you need.
Most sites go live within two to four weeks, depending on the size of the project and how quickly your content and photos come together.
I build on WordPress, and here's why: you fully own your site, it's far more flexible, it's better for showing up on Google, and it's much easier to grow over time than a locked-in Wix or Squarespace plan.
Agencies work well for some businesses, but you're usually paying for an account manager, a project coordinator and a designer who each touch your site once, quoted hourly with room to blow out. With me, it's one person from first chat to launch and beyond, a fixed price agreed up front, and no lock-in contract. You always know who's building your site and what it costs.
Absolutely. Everything is built on WordPress so you can change your words and photos whenever you like, and I'll walk you through exactly how before launch.
Completely. The website and all your content belong to you. I usually purchase and manage the domain on your behalf to keep things simple, and I can transfer it fully into your control whenever you ask.
I stick around. Hosting keeps your site online from $8 a month, and if you'd rather never think about your website, Priority care from $50 a month adds updates and up to an hour of changes each month, done for you. Anything bigger is quoted up front before any work begins.
